How do you wash reusable pads?

How do you wash reusable pads?

An excellent question.  Thanks for asking!

woman looking bored by a washing machine with text so easy I'm actually bored

While we have a suggested wash routine to keep stains away, there are actually lots of different ways to care for reusable pads.  Some of our customers simply wear them and throw them in the laundry with their regular wash!  This is perfectly acceptable and will leave you with fresh, clean pads, but you'll likely encounter stains.

We suggest the following:

  1. After use, place your soiled pad in a wet bag or other open container (do not seal shut, as it is best for your pads to get a bit of air circulation while awaiting the wash); no rinsing and no soaking is needed
  2. When ready to wash, add a little bit of detergent and some OxiClean to a bucket.  Dissolve in a little hot water, then fill bucket with cold water and add your pads.  Do not put pads in hot water or it will set stains
  3. Soak pads overnight
  4. Rinse pads with cold water and check for remaining stains.  Treat any stains that remain with your favourite stain stick or repeat the soak
  5. Once pads are stain-free, they are ready to be washed and dried with your regular laundry

And...it is THAT easy.  See why the lady in the picture is so bored?!
